CrossFit and Paleo- The Perfect Match?

CrossFit is a fitness program, founded by Greg Glassman, that involves a combination of different workouts, such as strength training, cardiovascular, and explosive athletic movements. CrossFit has its own dietary guidelines. According to the CrossFit website, calories should be broken into 30% protein, 40% carbohydrates, and 30% fat. The basic components of the CrossFit diet are veggies, lean meats, and nuts and seeds. The guidelines of both the Paleo diet and the CrossFit diet are essentially the same.

CrossFit Paleo

The Paleo diet, also known as The Caveman diet, mimics what our early ancestors ate before the Agricultural Revolution- when societies transformed from hunting and gathering to farming. The Paleo diet basics are lean meats and healthy, organic fruits and veggies. By following the Paleo diet, you will eat a lot of protein, fiber, healthy fats, potassium, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

In order to perform your best in a high-impact WOD, you must have a ton of energy to expend. That’s where the Paleo diet comes in. The Paleo diet provides sufficient energy in order to sustain high-intensity workouts because it focuses on protein, green vegetables, and no sugar.
